OverviewBuilding a website is not as difficult as you might think, building your own can save you both time and money. There are a number of downloads available online e.g. WordPress that allow you to create and publish your website completely free. However, in order to get the most out of the software, some basic knowledge of HTML and CSS is essential. HTML is the language in which all webpages are written, what we see on a webpage is an interpretation of what our browser has translated. At first glance, HTML looks very complicated as it is essentially a different language. However, you will be surprised at how quick and easy it is to learn and, by the end of the 2 lessons, will be well on your way to creating your own website. Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) is another important tool as it allows you to change the layout and look of your website. With a basic understanding of CSS, you will be able to change colours, fonts and many other aspects of the site. Throughout the evenings, you will also be introduced to domain names, web servers, and website hosting.
